Old Largs Photos and Postcards

Welcome to the Old Largs Photos and Postcards web site.

The Scottish gaelic name for Largs is An Leargaidh Ghallda. The original name means "the slopes" (An Leargaidh.) Largs with its beautiful scenery and views over the Isle of   Cumbrae, Arran and Bute has been a very popular holiday destination for over 150 years.

With the introduction of commercial postcards in 1894 Largs was the ideal location to take advantage of this new type of media.

This site showcases many images of Largs taken from old postcards and photographs. Many of these have been taken by local photographers W Couts and Hampston and J   R  Simpson. The Old Largs team are constantly searching for new images of Largs so keep check back with us for new additions.

Check out our new features Largs Cinemas, Largs and the Castelvecchi's, Largs Zoo and Largs and the WW2 D-Day Landings.

30 new images have just been added to our Tranditional Largs postcard page
